What do these options mean?
Downlight size
- 2″
- The smallest downlight in the line — near-invisible in the ceiling plane. The lit opening and the beam angles are the same at every size — they all take the same module. Tilt goes to 35°.
- 3″
- The workhorse size. Discreet, with serious output behind it. The lit opening and the beam angles are the same at every size — they all take the same module. Tilt goes to 35°.
- 4″
- The classic size, with maximum adjustability across the range. The lit opening and the beam angles are the same at every size — they all take the same module. Tilt goes to 40°.
In the ceiling
- Housing New Construction rough-in
- A metal housing is nailed to the joists before the ceiling goes up, and the module and trim go in later. The usual choice when the ceiling is open.
- Canless No housing, shallow plenum
- No housing at all: the fixture clips into a cut hole and the junction box sits beside it. Fits where the space above the ceiling is too shallow for a can.
- Downsizer™ Into an existing housing
- Drops the visible opening of a can that is already in the ceiling — a 6″ hole becomes a 3″ one — working from below, with drywall patching to close the gap.
Beam angle
- 15° Spot
- Aim one at a painting, a sculpture or a stone feature. Tight enough that the object is lit and the wall around it is not. About 2.1 ft across, 8 ft below the fixture.
- 24° Narrow flood
- The grazing angle for a feature wall, a headboard or joinery — wide enough to cover the surface, narrow enough to keep the light off the floor. About 3.4 ft across, 8 ft below the fixture.
- 36° Flood
- The default for general light in a room. On a normal ceiling a row of these overlaps into even light without hot spots underneath. About 5.2 ft across, 8 ft below the fixture.
- 50° Wide flood
- For low ceilings and corridors, where fixtures are close to what they are lighting and a narrower beam would read as a line of bright pools. About 7.5 ft across, 8 ft below the fixture.
Color temperature
- 2400K Warmest
- Candlelight territory. Used where the light itself is meant to feel like a flame — bars, restaurants, a warm residential scheme.
- 2700K Warm
- What a traditional incandescent lamp looked like. The safe residential default in most of North America.
- 3000K Soft
- Slightly crisper than 2700K and still warm. The most specified residential and hospitality color.
- 3500K Neutral
- Reads clean rather than warm or cool. Common in kitchens, offices and retail where materials need to look accurate.
- 4000K Cool
- Neutral-to-cool white. Workspaces, galleries, garages — anywhere alertness matters more than warmth.
- Dim to warm Warms as it dims
- One fixed color that gets warmer as it dims, the way a filament lamp does. Built on the 1,250 and 1,500 lm packages.
- Tunable Full range
- The color is set by the control system, anywhere from 1800K to 6500K, and can change through the day. Tunable White family only.
Output
- Under 1,000 lm
- Accent, cove and low-ceiling work
- 1,000 – 2,000 lm
- General residential downlighting
- 2,000 – 3,500 lm
- High ceilings and spec-grade projects
- 3,500 lm +
- Maximum output, two-head fixtures
Dimming
- 0-10V Wired control
- A separate pair of control wires runs to the fixture. The standard way to dim a commercial project, and what most architectural control systems expect.
- TRIAC / ELV Standard wall dimmer
- Dimmed on the line voltage itself, so an ordinary wall dimmer works and no control wiring is needed. The usual residential choice.
- DALI-2 Addressable
- A digital bus: every fixture has an address and can be re-grouped in software rather than by rewiring.
- Lutron Athena node
- Driver built for the Lutron Athena system, with the node integral to the fixture, so it commissions as a Lutron device rather than as a generic 0-10V load.
Dims down to
- to 1% Standard
- Standard across the range. At 1% the room reads dim but the fixture is still clearly on.
- to 0.1% Hospitality, theatrical
- Ten times deeper. Worth specifying where the light has to disappear smoothly — hotel rooms, screening rooms, restaurants late in the evening.
- to 5% TRIAC only
- The floor of the 120V TRIAC/ELV driver. Fine for general light; not deep enough for a scene that has to fade to almost nothing.
Heads
- One head A single aimed light
- One module behind one opening — the usual downlight.
- Two heads Two aimed lights, one frame
- Two independently aimed modules in a single frame, each with its own opening, so one fixture lights two things — a picture and the floor below it, say.
Application
- Residential
- Everything specified for a house — new construction, remodel and retrofit, at residential output.
- Commercial
- Higher output, shallow plenum depth and non-IC options for spec-grade projects.
Installation
- New Construction Ceiling still open
- The ceiling is not up yet, so a housing can be fixed to the structure and wired in the open.
- Remodel Ceiling closed, no fixture there
- The ceiling is finished but there is no fixture in that spot yet. A hole is cut and the fixture clips in from below.
- Retrofit A fixture is already there
- Something is already installed in that hole. The existing can stays where it is and the Elium ring and module go into it.

Nothing matches every filter.
Try removing the most specific one, or tell us what the project needs and an agent will come back with options.
Round or square: every product takes both, so shape is not a filter here. Nearly every
product is also offered flanged or flangeless — the 2″ Commercial families are flanged
only and the Downsizer Rings flangeless only. Choose the trim on the product page.
Voltage is the same: every product is available with a universal 120–277V driver, and
the canless families add a 120V-only TRIAC driver — so any of them will run on a 120V
circuit. The driver is part of the catalog number, chosen on the product page.
